Be Light

Navigating life through the spirit of play

Dr JEt Eveleth

Jet fell in love with improvisation during her time touring with the Second City. She followed this passion and took a role as a clown in the show Absinthe at Caesar’s palace in Vegas. Then a stretch of working in television left her feeling disconnected and lost and the search for what was missing took her somewhere comedians usually don't go. She studied breathwork in the Pyrenees with Wim Hof and meditation with Eckhart Tolle. She got her doctorate in Integrative Medicine and became a professor of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She discovered that her journey into the healing arts led her back into the one thing she always loved: clowning around. The result is a practice she created that treats laughter as medicine and play as a path home. Jet leads workshops and retreats  designed to reconnect you the light that lives inside you.

"Jet Eveleth, beloved performer, gives her authoritative answer: In the simplest terms, clown is a celebration of the physical and vulnerable side of the human experience. When the performer embraces the muchness of life, they serve as a mirror for the audience to see and laugh at themselves from a safe distance. So yes, it is mostly just falling down, falling in love or farting, but from a wider angle, clown is poking fun at the human condition.”  - LA Times, 2022

The Heart of Play

In play we discover a curious version of ourselves,  balancing our light and shadow while laughing at our attachments. This work invites us to be soft, brave, and available to the moment. It is an immersive practice that explores our most vulnerable and creative self. Using tools found in improvisation, meditation, and sacred movement practices we descend into the landscape where the clown resides. Clowning is simply the humor that doesn't come from the mind. It draws instead from the body, the heart and the collective energy of those around us. It's not a costume or a red nose it is a state of being and it's available to anyone willing to take off the mask and let go of the armor.

The work begins with exercises that help you drop into the body and descend from the mind. Within the sacred container, we explore physical games and rituals that give birth to organic impulses inspired by the child within. There is no pressure to perform, but an invitation to get lost inside yourself and to play within the moment. There is nothing to learn but only to uncover — to move through life in a more open state, with a greater connection to everything.

Please come unprepared.

I've gone to many workshops and this one has had the biggest impact on me. Jet has a following and there's definitely a reason why. If I were to sum up the workshop in 2 words, it would be "embodied presence." It was exactly what I was looking for, both real and raw.

Testimonies

Many people promise the same thing -- to teach the art of being physically and emotionally present. This one delivers.

This work has brought me back to the beautiful parts of my childhood where I could stare with curiosity and feel myself freely. The honesty that came flowing out of me has soothed my soul. Jet created a safe container to explore our inner world and embrace our expansive human experience.
